A former member of The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) committee that authored the 2010 Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance and also served as a Member of the Vision 20-20-20 federal government strategy group.
Mallam Yahyah holds a Masters of Philosophy Degree in Economics and Politics of Development from Cambridge University England, and a First Class Honors degree in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. He is a trained Investment Banker, and started his career with CHASE Manhattan/Continental Bank of Nigeria in 1987, a qualified Chartered stockbroker and a specialist in Debt Securitization as well as Primary and Secondary Capital Market Issues and regulation.
In 1994, Mallam Suleiman Yahyah served as a member of the 30 man led Federal Government delegation to South Africa to assist and support the 1994 CODESA Negotiations that took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. He actively promotes Nigeria- South Africa regional and bilateral co-operation at the highest levels. MallamSuleiman Yahyah served as one of the pioneer Directors of NUB International Bank Plc for six years until its consolidation driven merger with Finbank in 2006. He also served on the Boards of FCMB Group and the FCMB Bank as a Director for several years until 2014.
He is the Chairman of ROSEHILL GROUP, whichhe founded in 1999. The Group is involved with the growth and development of the Nigerian economy in three key areas, Infrastructure Investment and Management Support, Corporate Governance as well as Advocacy.
MallamSuleiman Yahyah is alsothe founder and chairman of the Abuja Business Council (ABC) which is involved with Corporate Governance and Sustainable Investment Matching and Policy Advocacy. Mallam Yahyah currently serves as Chairman of Nahco Group Plc, the leading in Aviation Handling, Cargo Management and Free Trade Zone Development Company. NAHCO PLC is a publicly listed company in Nigerian Stock Exchange.
He is also currently the Chairman of Lafarge Ashaka Cement Plc a leading cement producer in the North East Nigeria, a subsidiary of the LAFARGE HOLCIM Africa Group and is a Publicly Listed Company. Mallam Suleiman is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Directors (IOD) and a member of the London Institute of Directors, Pall Mall.
Mr. Yahyah, was conferred with the Nigerian honour as Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 in recognition of his excellence and leadership role for several key sectors of the Nigerian economy as well as his promotion of Nigeria’s corporate interest in several international foras. Mallam Suleiman Yahyah is involved with several philanthropic projects and youth empowerment through the Suleiman Yahyah Foundation.
